Cruising THE Mediterranean

Barcelona Day 3

Patricia...Thank you for your thoughtful comments and for following our daily blog posts.

Last evening, we dined at Margherita Ristorante Pizzeria. We shared Seafood Soute which included the catch of the day of fresh prawns, mussels, clams and squid with accompanies with cherry tomatoes in a flavorful pan sauce. It was delicious.

Keith had the Sea Bass accompanied with potatoes and eggplant and Anne Marie enjoyed the Margherita Pizza with Keith having a couple of slices of it. The food was terrific and we enjoyed dining outside.

After dinner, we took a stroll along nearby streets. We eventually came to the area where we will dine this evening. The restaurant is located on a paved area which runs up and down the middle of the street where several other restaurants are also located. All of these restaurants  offer outdoor dining in addition to indoor dining at their respective locations located just across the street from the outdoor area.

This morning we took a four-hour private tour in the morning. Some of the places we have visited in past but it’s always a pleasure to return to places because each time you see and learn new things.

We were met at the hotel by our tour guide Dani and  driver Danny.

Our tour included:

- Gothic Quarter

- Port Vell & Columbus Monument

- Passeig de Gràcia & Block of Discord

- Casa Batlló (exterior only)

- Casa Milà/La Pedrera (exterior only)

- Sagrada Familia (interior visit)

- Plaça d'Espanya

- Montjuïc Hill

The tour was fantastic. Tour guide Dani majored in history, taught history in high school, is a substitute teach since he is a tour guide. Very easy to understand and provided great information and not overwhelming where you might stop listening.  Driver Danny was very polite and a great driver.

Our first stop was Sagrada Família which we first visited in 2005 but back then you only saw the outside. We showed a photo to Dani.

Timing is everything in life and by going there first it was not crowded inside. On a sunny day like today the colors that you see are amazing. We walked all around as Dani explained to us what we are seeing. Work is still taking place and even before and after the Pope's visit they are replacing the flooring and he showed us what else will be done. The same goes for outside with a lot more to come with its expansion.

Dani covered so much about the outside explaining each area and its meaning.

Your tour sounds extremely interesting and very comprehensive. If Danny and Dani are still in business in 2028, when we’re in Barcelona to pick up the Grace, we must see if we can book them.

Interesting fact, I learned yesterday that the Catholic Church has begun the process of sainthood for Antoni Gaudi.

I guess all you have to do is spend a century planning and building a gigantic cathedral! I will make a note of that.

Hi. I wish I understood how to look at your current blog from the very first post. Your site seems to be very cumbersome. Is there anyway to start at the very beginning? It keeps defaulting to the seemingly the last post
