We wanted to begin with the Le Casino Monte Carlo. This casino made its debut on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity in late 2024. These two casino are inspire by the famous Le Casino de whose home is Monte Carlo. 

Crystal has an  exclusive partnership with Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer.

The Casino found on Crystal ships are in intimate venues and contain several slot machines along with tables that have Blackjack, American Roulette and Ultimate Texas Hold'em.

We had two people join us in our suite for dinner last evening. We enjoyed canapés, wine and a delicious dinner.

Today, we anchored off Leknes, Norway. It is located in the Vestvågøy Municipality.  It is another small town with a population less than 4,000 residents. The town itself is not dependent on fishing but the overall region is.

Seven tours with five being covering different areas were offered today by Crystal including a visit to the fishing villages, (two tours), a hike, a safari by RIB Boat (two tours, a scenic tour with a chance to see local art, and a tour to learn about the Vikings.

We decided not to go ashore and made today a sea day. We learned from the destination lecturer at yesterday’s talk, that after tendering over to the tender port that the area is industrial. Although you could take the shuttle bus over to the nearby town, since we arrived on a Sunday most public areas are closed. Given this, the better ways to see this area are tours or taking a taxi. 
 
Later this afternoon there will be a talk given by Professor David Drewry about the geography of Norway including its mountains and fjords.
 
The newest production show featuring music and dance from Country Music Club to a London Pub and more including music of the English Rock Band The Who is on this evening’s program. It was planned to be shown the night before but following the Noon update from Captain Birger, Cruise Director Russ announced they were moving it to Sunday night being on the side of caution for the singers and dancers due to the possibility of rough seas. Although the Galaxy Lounge is on Deck 6 it is located towards the bow (front) of the ship where you will feel more movement from strong sea swells.  

Speaking of sea, when we are at sea we often think of what President John Fitzgerald Kennedy said. He made these remarks in 1962 at the America's Cup Dinner hosted by the Australian Ambassador on September 14.

​He said " I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it is because in addition to the fact that the sea changes and the light changes, and ships change, it is because we all came from the sea. And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have, in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it we are going back from whence we came."

Almost sixty-three years later these words resonate by President Kenney resonate with Anne Marie and me.
