Yesterday we returned to Marketplace for lunch and sat outside. It was delightful.

Last evening we dined at Umi Uma for the first time of this cruise with Cruising Friends Andrea and David. We had a wonderful time.

These are the menus from Umi Uma other than the sushi/sashimi menu.

When we first sailed on Crystal Serenity in 2005 we dined at Umi Uma. Back then it was called Silk Road until it was renamed Umi Uma in 2018. Some people call it Nobu since it was created by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa whose restaurants located around the world on land are simply known as Nobu.

Nobu's menu on land and at sea is unique as it blends Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Nobu lived and worked in Lima, Peru starting in 1973 at the age of 24 when he opened a Japanese Restaurant. He began experimenting by combining Japanese techniques with Latin American flavors, which gave birth to his signature style of Japanese-Peruvian fusion.

His food was so popular with Crystal guests that his presence expanded when the former Asian Restaurant on-board Crystal Serenity was converted to Silk Road and also renamed Umi Uma.

Umi Uma translates to Seahorse in Japanese and Crystal Cruises uses seahorse as its logo because the creature embodies the brand's characteristics of quiet elegance, curiosity, and care.

We had a great time at dinner between the wonderful food of Nobu, exceptional service by Sommelier Jay and Waiter Dondee, the beautiful ambience of this dining venue and wonderful dinner conversation with Andrea and David.

Today's Daily Reflections.

This morning we arrived at Porto Mahon, Spain which is the capital of the Spanish Island of Menorca. It is known for is mix of Spanish, British and Mediterranean influences. It is known for its British-style Georgian houses and sheltered harbor.

The Santa Maria church is located on central Placa de la Constitucio. The city hall with its Renaissance façade with a clock donated by the first Governor of this island.

Crystal offered several port excursions including:

Archaeological Menorca, E-Bike Tour of Binibeca, Taste of Menorca in Subaida, Megalithic & Modern Mahon, Menorca's Beach Escape, Menorca's Island Exploration and Kayaking Menorca.

Speaking of excursions people occasionally ask does Crystal offer a port excursion for those staying on for the next cruise. These are known as in-transit guests. The answer is it depends but wherever possible they do. We have been on-board where they offered a tour by A&K or a tour organized by Crystal. The turnover port on this cruise is Lisbon and yesterday we received information about a tour which will be a visit to Sintra.

Captain Vincent invited us to view the arrival from the Bridge. This port is the second largest natural port in the world with a length of three miles and a width of 3,000 feet at its broadest point.

We are enjoying the rest of the day on-board Crystal Serenity.
