We enjoyed dinner with one other person last evening.

We enjoyed dinner with another person last evening.

Although there is no formal night on this cruise the Waterside menu featured items that you will find on the first formal or only formal on cruises which have them. This included appetizers such as Fresh Oysters and Caviar entrees such as Fresh Lobster, and Wagyu Beef Tenderloin, along with other appetizers, salads, and entrees. Many dessert offerings including a Traditional Souffle Grand Marnier.

Before we sailed last evening, Captain Vincent spoke from the bridge and said that we would have choppy seas in the evening and into the early morning hours. By around 8:30 pm you could feel the ships movement. We are located fairly mid-ship so we knew the movement we felt was far less than those whose rooms are far forward. From time to time in the late evening and early morning one could hear some vibration while feeling the movement of the ship.

At times it was like being on a roller coaster on land but the difference is it was not as if you were going around curves and it was inclusive.

Serenity anchored off Provincetown, Massachusetts late this morning.

Provincetown is in the extreme tip of Cape Cod. We visited Provincetown on a prior trip of Cape Cod.

It was the harbor that the Mayflower pilgrims sought shelter from challenging seas on the way to the Colony of Virginia. Before settling in Plymouth, the pilgrims wrote and signed the Mayflower Compact which some refer to as America’s constitution.

It is a small coastal resort town with a population of under 4,000 residents. During the summer the population grows to 60,000 people.

Throughout much of the 20th Century, Provincetown attracted many writers and artist and is also regarded as the nation’s oldest continuous art colony.

Major attractions include:

Pilgrim Monument which was finished in 1910 and commemorates the pilgrims first landfall in 1620.

Pilgrim Landing National Site commemorating the pilgrims landing at the harbor at Provincetown five weeks before they would get to Plymouth.

Province Land Trails which is comprised of 5.5 miles of trail providing lovely views of nature and access to Herring Cove and Race Point beaches.

Commerce Street which is three miles of street that trace the shore of the bay and is home to restaurants and cafes, art galleries and other local shops.

We visited this town over 50 years ago. We didn’t take the tender over today, but plan to do so when we return next week on the next cruise.

Cheers,

Anne Marie & Keith
