Breaking news. Keith went into town in the afternoon. For those of you who know Keith he normally would go into town early to walk around while it is quiet. Keith took the shuttle into town. We were told that these would be port provided shuttles, so you never know what to expect. To our surprise there were two or more of them. Very nice double decker buses with seatbelts. At the port and where we were dropped off downtown there were two men wearing red vests so easily identifiable. Very orderly and well organized. To get out of the port you go up a road whose lanes are regular size. Once up the hill the road turns windy and is the width of it is narrow so when the bus is going one way and a car the other way someone needs to pull over. The town was about 15 minutes away. The first ten minutes involved the winding roads in a rural area. Once in town we drove another five minutes passing lots of stores, homes, restaurants, pubs, churches, and schools. The town was lovely and very nice to see. Dinner Menu from Waterside from last evening where we dined. Your browser does not support viewing this document. Click here to download the document. We returned to Waterside for another wonderful dinner. We were in great hands between Restaurant Manager Paolo, Head Waiter Jacques, Senior Waiter Enver, Waiter Edson and Sommelier Isabel. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner in Waterside. Others had the same idea as we did as it was very busy. There were two shows in the evening. We had Comedian Mark Palmer at 8:30 and A Journey of Music and Dance from a Country Music Club to a London Pub which is the new show. We think this is why many people went to Waterside for dinner. All good. This is today's daily Reflections Program. Your browser does not support viewing this document. Click here to download the document. Excluding the unplanned sea day, today is the first of two sea days of this voyage. Sea days are always special and that is the case today. The program had lots to do and as I say more than you could do in one day. You would need three days to do it all. There were three lectures. First one was about Faroe Islands followed by a talk about All about the leaks in the government. The afternoon featured a talk about the Vikings. We wanted to also acknowledge that today is the anniversary of September 11, 2011.This was a very sad event. It is hard to believe it is now twenty-four years after that the terrorist attack and all that changed after that day. For many of us, it was our Pearl Harbor and just as those of us who were alive when President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated and remember precisely where we were when we heard the fateful news, we remember where we were on September 11, 2001. In my case,
In 2016 the Northwest Passage Cruise ended in Manhattan with an overnight. On the day of arrival, wewalked to and from the 911 Memorial. During the walk, we passed the elementary school which was nearby the Twin Towers where children would be playing outside and surely would have heard a tremendous boom as the first of the two towers were hit by a plane. Today, children are around thirty years old. We will join in today with a moment of silence. Anne Marie & Keith
