We're On Our Way

There is a song by The Beatles called Two Of Us. It includes the lyrics; We're on our way home. We're on our way home. We're going home.

This is how we feel today. We're on our way home and in more than one way.

We broke getting over to Barcelona into two days with two different flights. Today we flew from our regional airport to a major hub used by our airline. For seventeen years this was not only the hub for our local airport because we lived just forty-five minutes away. We are going home or at least to an area near our former homes. We are staying the night at a hotel connected to the International Terminal that we will fly out of tomorrow afternoon. 

Our flight was cancelled twice over the past ten days, most recently this past Sunday. Thankfully, it wasn't cancelled today.

The flight was full which is what we have come to expect.

Over the years we have learned there are times when air travel goes very well and other times when it does not. Today, it worked like a charm.

After checking in for our flight, we breezed through TSA Pre Check with a handful of people in front of us. Aircraft boarding commenced on-time and we departed the gate early. The flight arrived twenty-five minutes early and the gate was available. Although the flight was full it was apparent at baggage claim that most people were connecting to other flights because no one was there and we had the only pieces of luggage that were on the conveyor belt. Our hotel is at a different terminal so we had to take one of the airport vans which can involve a twenty minute wait. As soon as we exited the terminal and looked up the van was there so no wait.

Digressing for a moment to the flight it was nice to see that WIFI is now included. We remember all those years when WIFI  was not included at hotels and it was medium to lower priced hotels that took the plunge and added complimentary WIFI ​ and this ultimately  drove the more expensive hotels to do the same.
