EMBARKATION DAY - BACK HOME ON CRYSTAL SERENITY
Peggy, thank you for your comments. Keith's parents shared many nice memories with Keith about The Bronx. Anne Marie was born in The Bronx and lived there for several years so she was familiar with places that Keith's parents would mention including the Bakery near the original Yankee Stadium. Keith's favorite baseball team continues to be the New York Yankees.
We enjoyed our final night in Beverly Hills. We took one more walk and had dinner and then relaxed back at the room. When we woke up this morning, we felt the excitement of knowing we would be board Crystal Serenity today. We had our final breakfast of our hotel stay in the room.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel. We loved the room and the special patio. The staff has provided excellent service and has responded quickly to all requests. The hotel is beautiful and we like its classic style and the location has worked well for us.
Shortly after we checked out of our room, our driver and a vehicle arrived to take us on the drive to the Los Angeles World Cruise Center.
The drive took forty-five minutes. For those of you familiar with the port when there are one or two ships in port the vessels dock at either Berth 92 or 93 within walking distance of the Battleship USS Iowa Museum.
The port assigned Berth 46 to Crystal Serenity for today's embarkation. Its location is two miles from Berth 92/93 and there is no terminal building. A large tent was in place to facilitate the disembarkation of guests getting off the previous voyage and those of us who embarked Crystal Serenity today.
Berths 92 and 93 were assigned to the Holland Amsterdam and Emerald Princess, respectively. We understand that Crystal was originally going to have one of the berths but the Holland Ship needed it because of the power hookup. Our excitement continued as soon as we saw Crystal Serenity from inside the vehicle.
The tent that Crystal had set up was enormous.
As we made it up the gangway and onto the ship, the first words we heard were "welcome home". We quickly saw many members of the crew that we consider our extended family. While some people enjoy having a second home, we consider Crystal Serenity to be our second home and the members of team Crystal to be our extended family.
Within seconds of boarding the ship we were welcomed home from several other members of team Crystal Serenity and this continued throughout the day. We also saw some fellow guests who we have sailed with on previous cruises.
We enjoyed lunch at the new Waterside Restaurant. The last time we were on-board they called it the Crystal Dining Room. Like Symphony, they have transformed the dining venue from a banquet facility to a restaurant. The change is dramatic. The restaurant is beautiful. It is very intimate. The spacing of the tables is well done.
What has not changed is the outstanding service and delicious cuisine. We look forward to all of the delicious meals we will have throughout the cruise. We enjoyed our traditional embarkation day lunch of a Cobb Salad and a flute of champagne to toast the start of an amazing cruise and our love for one another.
Some additional photos of Waterside.
We are posting early since we have a lot of packing to do.
We are so happy be home on-board Crystal Serenity.
