We enjoyed a terrific night at sea. It began with a pre-dinner drink at the Crystal Cove where we spoke with fellow guests and listened to pianist Richard Pucci dazzle everyone on the Piano. It was Black Tie Optional night on the ship. We dined at Waterside for the first of three consecutive nights. This is the menu from Waterside. Dinner was terrific. Ricardo is now our Sommelier. He just returned from Holiday. We began with an appetizer; Caviar for Keith and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail for Anne Marie, followed by a Dinner Salad for each of us. We each enjoyed the Lobster for our entree. As expected Waterside was busy as the menu is very popular on Black Tie Optional Evenings. A change from last year are dishes used for some of the items on BTO nights such as Shrimp Cocktail (photo below) and the Caviar (we didn't get a photo of it) Following dinner was Captain Birger's Welcome Reception. The room was lit up with a buzz all around. The turnout was good and you could just feel how upbeat everyone was who attended the reception. We didn't take photos inside the room. Keith took this photo of Anne Marie with two very special people. On a serious note it was announced that there was a medical situation and Crystal Serenity would reverse course and with no land close-by Crystal Serenity would head East to Mexico. This is a photo from 6:03 AM ships time with the arrow showing the location and heading of Serenity. We have a superb medical team as we do with the rest of the on-board team on board the ship. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the the person with the medical situation. The evening entertainment included Pianist Rustem Hayroundinoff. Once again great news when we arrived back to the room. We set the clocks back one hour. This is why we love sailing from East to West over West to East where the clock is set forward. Payback day will come but not for awhile. We slept well as we continue to sail to the first Port Of Call of leg two. Sure you know you are at sea but we have been fortunate as often it can be quite bumpy the firs day to two days or more when sailing this route. The morning began with our regular routine of workout for Keith followed by breakfast in our room. Anne Marie walked and attended Yoga. Keith also ran on the open deck. There was lots on the program today. This included three lectures: Professor Adrian Vickers spoke about the Marquesas Islands; Special Interest Lectures Captain John Creighton spoke about what it is like to be an Astronaut and Why We need to do Space Programs. In the afternoon Neil Leifer spoke about Stories Behind Photographs. In the afternoon we had lunch at Marketplace and Anne Marie walked while Keith played Paddle Tennis. Throughout the day we enjoyed wonderful conversations with fellow guests and members of the crew. This might seem repetitious but remember our little village on-board Serenity and this is part of what makes cruising very special. Following is the Daily Reflections Program. Cheers, Anne Marie & Keith
