BORA BORA - DAY 2We enjoyed a wonderful evening on-board Serenity last night. These are the dining menus from Waterside. Last evening we hosted a Vintage Room Dinner. For those of you who are not familiar with the Vintage Room you can attend a group dinner with other guests who sign up to attend or you could create your own group and book it on your own or as we did host a dinner. The Head Sommelier coordinates all of the details. As hosts we selected the foods to be served choosing from several menus and getting input from Jiri, the Head Sommelier. We discussed wines with Jiri and we let him make the selections. There are several courses and each item is paired with a specific wine. We like to change things up with one or two wines. Jiri came up with a terrific idea which we did. One wine was served as a blind taste. The name of the wine was not listed on the menu and it was in a bag labeled number 1. The challenge based on color, smell and taste was to determine if this was a "New" or "Old" World Wine. It was not an easy answer. Special thanks to the Food & Beverage team on-board Crystal Serenity for all the effort which goes into making this a special experience and to Jiri for coordinating planning and coordination of the dinner and for his expertise in introducing and discussion each wine. Normally the wine bottles are not placed on the table but with the blind tasting planned Jiri thought it would add a nice touch which it did. The bottle for the blind tasting was placed in a bag labeled number one. We dined for close to three hours. The featured evening entertainment was over by the time we finished dinner. We went back to our room. We slept very well as Serenity remained anchored off Bora Bora. We began the day with the same routine including a workout by Keith at the Fitness Center, breakfast in our room and a walk by Anne Marie. Keith went to the Indoor Cycling Class. Now we want to digress for a moment and take you back to yesterday afternoon. You will remember yesterday morning Keith didn't make it ashore due to the heavy rain. There is a saying "try, try, try until you succeed". LOL The good news is Keith made it ashore after we had lunch yesterday. The rain stopped and he took the tender over to the Island. Although it was muddy in certain areas Keith was able to maneuver around the large puddles being careful of traffic on the two land road. We posted a photo of a dog because there were lots of dogs not on leashes. The photo of the old vehicle gives you an idea of the water from the rain. This Island is very lush and part of what makes it special is the rain. After Keith returned to Serenity a more intense rainstorm hit the island and at times we could not see the island from the ship. Everywhere you walk, there is a shop selling pearls. These are some additional photos including the famous Bloody Mary's We always speak about going to Marketplace for lunch except on embarkation days when we go to Waterside. Marketplace is a buffet with various food stations. Each day we create large salad entrees adding protein such as chicken, turkey or fish. These are some of the items available. The hot items change each day as do items such as sandwiches. These photos represent a portion of the items available with several more items not shown in the photos. After lunch it was Paddle Tennis for Keith. It was sunny and all enjoyed the game. It was non-stop playing. Anne Marie walked outside. Then it was time for the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl was shown at 1:00 PM with kickoff at 1:30 PM local time. Food was available and they had some food local to Kansas City and San Francisco the two teams in the Super Bowl. The game was shown on a big screen in the Galaxy Lounge and on each television in all guest rooms. Following is the Reflections Program from today. Cheers, Anne Marie & Keith

Sadly enough, I know why you saw so many loose dogs on Bora Bora. When we visited there in 2016, our local guide told us that dog was frequently on the menu. He hastened to say they were wild and not like our pet dogs, and he hoped we wouldn't judge him because he occasionally got hungry for the taste of dog.
