WELCOME TO MOOREABefore dinner we went to the Crystal Cove and listened to Ana and Humberto perform while having a pre-dinner drink. They are terrific entertainers. From 5:15 to 6:00 PM they play dinner music whereas later in the evening the music is more upbeat with singing. We had dinner at Waterside. These are the dinner menus. We each had appetizers; Tuna Tartare for Keith which Augusto made and Seared Sea Scallops for Anne Marie. We both had dinner salads. We had the swordfish entree which was on the menu the night before. We had pre-ordered the entree earlier in the day and. Keith had some cheese. aThe evening entertainment featured two performances by Karen Grainger and two performances of Latin Explosion featuring dancing and live music. We slept well as Serenity sailed to the island of Moorea. The day began with a workout for Keith followed by Breakfast. We have also visited Moorea three previous times. The first time was in 2008 when we stopped at several Pacific Ocean Islands on the way to Down Under. Three years later we returned and did a tour in a 4x4 which is the perfect way to see portions of the island and to enjoy its beauty and magnificent views. Moorea is a high island in French Polynesia. It is one of the Windward Island part of the Society Islands. Moorea means yellow lizard. The island was formed from a volcano somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 million years ago. It is ten miles wide. Moorea was first settled by Polynesians as were the other nearby islands. It is believed they arrived 1,000 years ago. The first known Europeans arrived in 1606. When Charles Darwin stood atop Tahiti and looked down upon Moorea he described it as a picture in a frame as the barrier reef encircles the island. Today the Island is popular with tourists and attracts many honeymoon couples. Major attractions include: Belvedere Lookout which provides beautiful views for the two bays & three peninsulas of Moorea. Hauru Point which has one long beach. Team Beach which list on the taste coast and is the widest of all beaches in all of French Polynesia. Moorea Tropical Garden which produces farm-to-table products. Since we have visited the Island several times Anne Marie stayed on board and walked on the promenade deck and attended Yoga taught by Maria Kita. Maria and Joe leave the ship tomorrow and this was the last class taught by Maria which was additional incentive for Anne Marie to attend the class. Keith went out on his own. After arriving by tender, Keith took in the beautiful views of this Island as he walked around. Additional photos including Lido Deck Steward Nat who we adore and of the private tender "yacht" that Keith took back over to Serenity. LOL. We are posting early today due to some challenges with editing our blog. We plan to have lunch at Marketplace and for Keith to play Paddle Tennis and for Anne Marie to walk on the ship. We are meeting some fellow guests after these activities. This evening we have dinner plans at Prego and we are looking forward to a tour we have planned for tomorrow. This is the daily Reflections Program. On page four they list the World Games results for the Crystal Serenity Crew. This is the first time we remember them doing this. While the World Games take place for the guests the crew has their own set of games which are played when they are off from duty. Often guests ask how they did and it was nice to see the results by crew member and by medal. Congratulations to the fifty-five members of Team Serenity who won medals. Cheers, Anne Marie & Keith
