We had a wonderful New Year's Eve. The two of us went from the Hotel to the Magic Kingdom over to the restaurant where we had 6:30 PM dinner reservations for a character dinner. We arrived early which was a good thing as Main Street was closed so we had to take a detour. The detour took us outside the park to some type of employee area and we proceeded for quite a distance and came out in Tomorrow Land and had to make our way though massive crowds of people before finding the one way over to Main Street to get to the restaurant where Jennifer and Emma were already waiting for us. Everyone else was at Disney Studios where Andre and Jackson had participated in what is known as Jedi Training which culminated with them displaying their newly found skills on stage for everyone to see. They needed to take a combination of Uber and the Monorail to meet us. This caused them to run late. While we waited we had the perfect view to see the Fire Works as we were standing close to the restaurant on a cement area which was elevated from the ground level and looking straight towards the fire works display. The rest of the family entered the park as the fireworks were underway so they could see them as they found their way through all of the people to get to the restaurant. The Magic Kingdom was as crowded as it gets. At 1:00 PM they had sent out a text that no one else could visit at that moment as they were at capacity. The fireworks went from 6:30 PM to about 6:45 PM and a few minutes later the rest of the family arrived. We let the Cast Members know all ten in our party were present and by 7:15 PM we were seated at two tables adjacent to one another. We were at the perfect spot as various Disney Characters visited each table. As suspected Preston was a little nervous to get too close to the characters as was the case when our children Eric and Jennifer were at that age. There was a small parade of the characters and our grandchildren with the exception of Preston marched with them. We intentionally selected this venue to celebrate New Years Eve and it turned out to be a great choice. Following dinner the two of us made our way to the boat and while we were waiting in line we looked up and Jennifer and family were right behind us. The line was short and we only waited a few minute for the boat to arrive. Eric and family stayed at Magic Kingdom and went on rides. When we got back to the property we all stopped at the Club Lounge and the two of us got flutes of champagne to toast in the New Year along with a few snacks. A couple of short videos follow. Shortly after returning to our room we could see the magical boats in the water and it wasn't too long after this when the second round of fire works began. This is some video from the Midnight Fireworks. After a good nights sleep we began the day with breakfast at the Club Lounge and met our family in the lobby of the hotel. Everyone wore the same shirt which we had made for the family. We took photos in the lobby and also at the Magic Kingdom. We returned to Magic Kingdom for another fun filled day. We went on several attractions together. This included: The Little Mermaid, The Speedway, The Haunted House, Peter Pan's Flight, Jungle Cruise, It's A Small World, and the Carrousel. We used a combination of Fast Pass and took advantage the park was not crowded in the early hours. The weather was a delight. We had lunch together and then the family stayed at the park while we went back to the Hotel. We will post about the rest of the day tomorrow.
Wishing each of you a very safe, healthy and Happy New Year. Happiness & Cheers, Anne Marie & Keith
