We hope you all are enjoying the start of the new year and a new decade. We enjoyed the hotel for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon before making our way to Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 so this was the first time we had the opportunity to visit this land. We met most of the family who was already there and walked around the park with them. One of the highlights was walking a jungle trail where we saw a variety of animals including Several Gorillas. We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe which we have been to before many years ago with Jennifer and Eric but in the state we live in. Food was OK. The venue is fun and great for the grandchildren. Keith selected the restaurant knowing it would be a good venue to keep everyone occupied but with average food and he was right on both accounts. LOL. After dinner we took the bus back to the hotel along with Jennifer and her family while Eric and family stayed out longer. The bus was as crowded as a bus can get but believe that might be the norm for the evening buses running from Animal Kingdom. Our bus was for those staying at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian Hotel and for those who used a parking lots near the Polynesian who primarily are staying at off side hotels. We began today with breakfast at the Club Floor lounge at the hotel before taking a bus to Animal Kingdom. Keith had arranged for two fast pass attractions in the morning which was the Na'vi River Journey and the Finding Nemo - The Musical attraction. The two of us arrived first and walked the park for quite awhile. We viewed some of the sea life and the beautiful landscape. We walked towards Na’vi River Journey to wait for the family. On the way we passed the Avatar Attraction and the wait time without a Fast Pass was three to four hours. When the family arrived we went on the Na’vi Journey Attraction. It’s wait time without a Pass Pass was 75 minutes. We had no wait time. This is based on Avatar and has some similarities to the Pirates Of The Caribbean ride in term of the interior and the vehicles you ride in. It is very well done. A short video from the Na'vi River Journey. After the ride all of us went on one of the outdoor rides which was similar to Dumbo with the vehicles going up and down. While the Grand Children played in another area Keith and Eric played some arcade games. Eric was the winner and won small stuffed Animals for each Grand Child. Way to go Eric. Next up was Finding Nemo - The Musical Attraction. This one was very well done between the puppeteers, the puppets and singing and the music. It was close to 45 minutes long and told a very nice story. Afterwards, we all had lunch. We ordered at a counter and sat at tables. Very efficient. As we were waiting we saw only one salad came out with many of the adult dishes being hamburgers or chicken. In our case five of the six adults had a salad entree. The children's meals are very nice between healthy items and each one came with a bucket which was very cute. The afternoon was the Kilimanjaro Safari for the family. We went back to the hotel. We leave on Saturday and want to spend as much time with the family tomorrow so we decided to do most of the packing today. Weather was fantastic. While Anne Marie packed Keith went on a long walk. This included walking all around the resort complex and to and from the Polynesian Resort. We will close now.
Happy New Year. Cheers, Anne Marie & Keith
